Hearing Point here to Overcome your Hearing Loss

What is Hearing Loss?

People can have hearing disability since they were born or it can happen due to exposure to very loud sounds at work. It might be handled using special hearing gadgets or through surgery.

Just because a hearing disability carries a negative social label, it needs to be talked about and taken care of. A lot of times, hearing problems that are acquired only become worse as days or years go by. Problems with driving, talking to others and general communication happen when someone’s hearing ability gets worse. It might lead to depression, frustration and various emotional problems. Urgent treatment of hearing impairment matters a lot for good results.

Because we depend on hearing for the activities we do every day, hearing loss can strongly affect our daily life. Get an ENT & Audiologist to find out if there is a cause for hearing loss. If the issue arises in outer or middle ear, a doctor may use medicine or do surgery to deal with it. Use hearing aids as well as any medicine, if your hearing problem comes from the inner ear, to avoid it getting worse. Having good-quality hearing aids makes it much easier for you to listen and look after your hearing. Doing this will stop mild hearing loss from becoming moderate, severe or profound.

While you decide on which hearing aid is best, don’t forget that some may not help with the specific hearing issue you now have. Because hearing aids have different features, you must compare them before making a choice. See an Audiologist and understand what is happening with your hearing before buying hearing aids. When you are choosing a lottery number, random selection will not work.

Hearing loss makes it difficult or impossible to hear speech and other sounds. There are different types of hearing loss, and they can range from mild, moderate, severe, or profound. Some types of hearing loss are temporary, and some are permanent.

Types Of Hearing Loss

Conductive Hearing Loss

Causes of Conductive Hearing deafness:

  • Blockages:

Earwax impaction, foreign objects in the ear canal, or fluid buildup in the middle ear can block sound transmission.

  • Ear Infections:

Conditions like otitis media (middle ear infection) can cause fluid and inflammation, hindering sound conduction.

  • Damage:

A perforated eardrum (tympanic membrane) or damage to the ossicles (tiny bones in the middle ear) can impair sound transmission.

  • Congenital Issues:

Some individuals are born with structural abnormalities in the outer or middle ear that affect hearing.

Mixed Hearing Loss

Combining both conductive and sensorineural hearing loss leads to the third type, mixed hearing problem.

In this type, there is an element of physical damage/obstruction to the outer and/or middle ear, in combination with a deterioration of the hair cells found in the inner ear.

A physician can treat the conductive part of the hearing loss and may prescribe hearing aids once the obstruction is clear.

Sensorineural Hearing Loss

Sensorineural hearing difficulty is the most common type of hearing problem and is caused by the deterioration of our hearing receptors (the hair cells) found in the inner ear.

Unlike sensorineural hearing deafness, there are no physical damages or obstructions on the external ear or middle ear; rather, the problem lies in the hearing receptors themselves. There are different causes of sensorineural hearing deafness.

Hearing Loss With Tinnitus

Tinnitus is a condition characterized by the perception of sound in one or both ears or in the head, without any corresponding external sound. It is often described as a ringing, buzzing, humming, or hissing sound. Tinnitus can be either constant or intermittent and may vary in intensity.

Tinnitus is a common condition, affecting approximately 15% to 20% of the population. It can be caused by a variety of factors, including exposure to loud noise, aging, certain medications, ear infections, earwax buildup, and head and neck injuries. In some cases, tinnitus may be a symptom of an underlying medical condition such as high blood pressure, Meniere’s disease, or acoustic neuroma.

There is no known cure for tinnitus, but there are several treatment options that can help to alleviate symptoms. These include sound therapy, cognitive behavioral therapy, medication, and lifestyle changes such as reducing exposure to loud noise and managing stress levels. If you are experiencing tinnitus, it is important to see a healthcare professional to determine the underlying cause and appropriate treatment.

If there is a loss in both ears, you will probably benefit more with a binaural solution. Today, about two-thirds of new users opt for dual hearing aids, and as a group they report a higher level of satisfaction than purchasers of a single hearing aid.
